Dog Training Tips On Eliminating Barking And Digging

By Kareechy Ken

Everyone loves the family dog, but it can be a bit much when he or she has the habit of incessantly barking or constantly digging up the yard. These are two habits that many people find to be the most bothersome. The following are some dog training tips that should help with those undesirable occurrences.

Dogs communicate with one another through the act of barking. They also bark for various reasons; if they sense danger, when they become bored, or even overly excited. If you feel that loneliness is what sets your dog off on a barking spree, try leaving the radio on when you leave. You can also record a conversation between family members and play it when you leave. Turning the television on can have a similar effect as the tape.

If the dog starts barking as you leave, try turning the television on so he has some voices to focus on while you are away. You can try making a recording of some of the family talking and play that for him while you are away also.

Dogs love to dig, but when it comes to the neighbor's flowers being sacrificed for his fun, something has to give.

Your dog might have some excess energy to spend, try taking him for a walk or play a long game of fetch in the park. Provide him with lots of toys to chew on and entertain himself with, if you need to leave for a long period of time.

Following these dog training tips should help you to figure out just what is causing your dog to behave in this manner. By discovering the cause and fixing it, you will feel much better about your dog's behavior and your neighbors might thank you as well. - 29953
